Trick: Square of numbers ending in 5
Multiply the front digits by the next number, then attach 25.
- 35² → 3 × 4 = 12, so 1225
- 65² → 6 × 7 = 42, so 4225
- 85² → 8 × 9 = 72, so 7225
Trick: Squares from 31 to 40
Use (30 + b)².
- 34² = 900 + 240 + 16 = 1156
Cubes 1 to 15 (Cube Table for Bank Exams)
| n | n³ | n | n³ | n | n³ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | 6 | 216 | 11 | 1331 |
| 2 | 8 | 7 | 343 | 12 | 1728 |
| 3 | 27 | 8 | 512 | 13 | 2197 |

Cube Root Trick: Find the Cube Root in 5 Seconds
The last digit of a perfect cube decides the last digit of its cube root:
| Cube ends in | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 0 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Root ends in | 1 | 8 | 7 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 3 | 2 | 9 | 0 |
Example: ∛4913
- Last digit is 3, so the root ends in 7.
- Drop the last three digits, leaving 4. It lies between 1³ = 1 and 2³ = 8, so take the smaller one: 1.
- Answer: 17
