= (800 × 32,000) + 8,00,000 + 4,00,000

= ₹2,68,00,000

= (760 × 35,500) + (40 × 8,000)

= ₹2,69,80,000 + ₹3,20,000

= (5,00,000 ÷ 2,68,00,000) × 100

= (600 × 420) + 24,000 + 18,000 + 12,000

= (550 × 495) + (50 × 180)

= (24,750 ÷ 3,06,000) × 100

💡 Shortcut Trick of the Day

Use Percentage Factors for Successive Discounts

Instead of calculating every discount one by one, convert them into multiplication factors.

Example:

  • Markup 220%× 3.20
  • Discount 25%× 0.75
  • Discount 20%× 0.80
  • Discount 15%× 0.85
  • Extra Discount 8%× 0.92

Multiply all the factors once to get the final Selling Price factor. Compare it with 1 (100% of CP) to instantly determine the overall profit or loss.

Banking Exam Tip: This approach is much faster than calculating each intermediate selling price and is especially useful in IBPS PO, SBI PO, SSC CGL, and other competitive exams.

Effective Cost Price First, Everything Else Later

Whenever a question includes loading, unloading, insurance, transportation, repair, packaging, installation, or freight charges, first calculate the Effective Cost Price:

Effective CP = Purchase Cost + All Additional Expenses

Then calculate the total Selling Price (including damaged goods, if any), and finally apply:

Profit/Loss % = (Profit or Loss ÷ Effective CP) × 100

Banking Exam Tip: In hard-level questions, most mistakes happen because candidates ignore one or more additional expenses. Make it a habit to calculate the Effective Cost Price before doing anything else.
