💡 Shortcut Trick of the Day

Net Selling Price Factor Method

Whenever a question has Markup + Multiple Discounts + Cashback, don’t calculate each price separately.

Multiply all the factors directly:

  • Markup 90%× 1.90
  • Discount 18%× 0.82
  • Discount 12%× 0.88
  • Discount 10%× 0.90
  • Cashback 5%× 0.95

The final product gives the Selling Price as a percentage of Cost Price.

Banking Exam Tip: This shortcut can save 30–60 seconds on a single question, which can make a significant difference in speed-based competitive exams.

❌ Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring transportation or packaging expenses while calculating Cost Price.
  • Adding successive discounts directly instead of multiplying discount factors.
  • Calculating Profit Percentage on Selling Price instead of Cost Price.
  • Forgetting to include damaged goods in the total Selling Price.
