Use the Alligation Method on profit/loss percentages.

  • Loss = −10%
  • Overall Profit = +4%

Ratio of cost prices:

CP₁ : CP₂ = (4 − (−10)) : (20 − 4) = 14 : 16 = 7 : 8

Difference in SP

= 115x − 112.5x

= 2.5x

Profit = 1 unit

Discount on 10 articles = Profit on 5 articles

So per article,

Discount = ½ unit

Therefore,

MP = SP + Discount

= 4 + 0.5

= 4.5 units

Now,

MP − CP

= 4.5 − 3

= 1.5 units = ₹200

Hence,

1 unit = ₹133.33

Marked Price

= 4.5 × 133.33
