💡 Shortcut Trick of the Day
Net Selling Price Factor Method
Whenever a question has Markup + Multiple Discounts + Cashback, don’t calculate each price separately.
Multiply all the factors directly:
- Markup 90% → × 1.90
- Discount 18% → × 0.82
- Discount 12% → × 0.88
- Discount 10% → × 0.90
- Cashback 5% → × 0.95
The final product gives the Selling Price as a percentage of Cost Price.
⚡ Banking Exam Tip: This shortcut can save 30–60 seconds on a single question, which can make a significant difference in speed-based competitive exams.
❌ Common Mistakes
- Ignoring transportation or packaging expenses while calculating Cost Price.
- Adding successive discounts directly instead of multiplying discount factors.
- Calculating Profit Percentage on Selling Price instead of Cost Price.
- Forgetting to include damaged goods in the total Selling Price.
